Oklahoma Smash Burger 🎥

This is for sure my favorite burger. This is why you make sourdough sweet potato buns. It’s so good you do not need any condiments at all.

Ingredients

1 Brown onion

80/20 Ground beef

Sweet Potato Buns

Olive Oil

Instructions

  1. Mandolin the onion as thin as possible, toss with salt and rest for 30min
  2. Squish out as much of the moisture from the onion.
  3. Form balls with the ground beef, place between parchment paper and smash with something flat and heavy. You can, of course, smash after you put the meat in the pan.
  4. Place meat patty in hot pan with olive oil and cover liberally with onion
  5. Cook until brown, flip patty and onion so onion is on bottom
  6. Cook until onion starts to caramalize – place between bun
