Sourdough Apple Donuts

Forget those store bought donuts!

Ingredients

2 Eggs
700g Apple Cider Reduced to 1/4
120g Starter
11g Vanilla Extract
147g Apple Butter
420g Flour
6g Salt
10g Baking Powder
3g Baking Soda
5g Ground Cinnamon
2g Nutmeg
150g Sugar
57g Melted Butter

Topping

100g Sugar
5g Cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Boil the apple cider over medium heat to reduce to about 1/4 cup – about 25mins. Let cool completely.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mix the dry ingredients.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the eggs and sugars until frothy and pale yellow. Slowly drizzle in the melted butter and mix.
  4. Now pour in the reduced apple cider, apple butter, sourdough , and vanilla extract. Whisk thoroughly.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl of dry ingredients and mix.
  6. Fridge overnight.
  7. Divide, shape into balls, rest 6h
  8. Cook in oil at 350F until brown
